Softness in Density explores the process of finding home, stillness, and belonging within New York City. Created during a period of transition and change, the book documents my daily walks through photographs taken primarily on a Nikon FM10 manual film camera. Through recurring images of trees, light, shadows, and quiet moments, the work searches for softness within the city’s density, where trees become grounding, light becomes clarity, shadows hold memory, and stillness creates a sense of belonging. It is a study of finding nature in density and calm in chaos.
